The Little Paris Patisserie by Julie Caplin

The Little Paris Patisserie
Julie Caplin
Rating: 4 stars

In a cosy corner in Paris, a delicious little patisserie is just waiting to be discovered. And romance might just be on the menu...

As the youngest of four, Nina Hadley has always had her big brothers telling her what to do. So, when she's given the chance to move to Paris and help run a patisserie course, she can't say au revoir quick enough!

There's just one problem: high-flying chef Sebastian Finlay is the owner of the patisserie. He's also her brother Nick's best friend - and the man she has secretly been in love with since forever.

Amongst the mouth-wateringly delicious eclairs and delicate macaroons, Nina's culinary creations aren't the only tempting thing she's working with...

--------------------

I've really loved this series and this one is no different. The descriptions of the food will have your mouth watering and will make you want to visit Paris right now! The cover is just beautiful and I adore all the pastel colours and the floral arrangement around the outside of the cover. The eiffel tower in the background makes the cover but I really love the cute little table and chairs in the centre with the delicious looking treats sitting on top. All in all, it's breathtaking and really catches your eye. If you judged books by it's cover then this is one you would certainly pick up!

On to the actual story, first of all I didn't really like Nina much at the start of the novel. I can understand where she's coming from that being in a big family could be overwhelming but she seemed a bit spoilt to start off with. However, as we got to know her more throughout the book she really started to shine and I really warmed to her character. However, I will say that I cannot believe she stayed with the way that Sebastian spoke to her! I would be out of that door and on a place home as quick as a flash - so I really admired her for sticking it out - because I wouldn't that's for sure!

The same goes for Sebastian, at the start when we first met him I really didn't like him. I found him to be rude, arrogant and so self-absorbed that I really didn't care much for him. Just like Nina however, as the book went on I found myself warming to him too and started to realise why he acted the way he did. As well as Nina and Sebastian, there were plenty of other characters to get to know. And I instantly liked Marcel and Marguerite (think I spelt that right!), I thought that Marcel was quite the character and quite funny and Marguerite just seemed so lovely.

If you add in the location, picturesque Paris, and the addition of the deliciously mouth watering pastries and patisserie, you'e got yourself a beautifully written and lighthearted novel. I really enjoyed this third novel in the series, and if what I've read is correct, I'm so happy this isn't the last one! I adore Julie Caplin's style of writing - it's captivating and just so enjoyable. Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel, which I have reviewed honestly.

Love at the Northern Lights by Darcie Boleyn

Love at the Northern Lights
Darcie Boleyn
Rating: 5 stars

'Climbing out the window in her dress and tiara wasn't exactly how Frankie imagined her wedding day...'

Runaway bride Frankie Ashford hops on a place to Norway with one goal in mind - find her estranged mother and make peace with the past. But when a slip on the ice in Oslo lands her directly in Jonas Thorsen's viking-strong arms, her single-minded focus drifts away in the winter winds.

When it comes to romance Jonas knows that anything he and Frankie share has an expiration date - the British heiress has a life to return to in London that's a world away from his own. But his family is everything to Jonas and, as the one man who can help Frankie find the answers she's seeking, he'll do whatever it takes to help reunite with her mother.

Now, as Christmas draws closer and the northern lights work their magic Frankie and Jonas will have to make a choice...play it safe or risk heartbreak to take a chance on love.

-------------------------------------

Words cannot describe just how much I LOVED this novel. It was romantic, it was adventurous and was just overall a really lovely, cosy novel. The cover is absolutely stunning - I love the colours of the sky, the snowy trees and the cute little buildings with the huge Christmas tree in the centre! Everything draws you in and automatically makes you want to read it.

The story itself was completely gripping - straight from the first page. I felt so sorry for Frankie and everything that she'd been through and I was so happy for her when she ran away from her own wedding! I was so pleased that she decided to get away from her awful relationship and I'll be honest I found myself getting so irritated with Frankie's grandmother! I just thought, how dare she speak to Frankie like that? That's why I was shocked when Frankie decided to go back to England - but to be fair, family is family in the end.

Jonas was an absolute dreamboat and I loved him! He was such a gentleman and I was so hoping that him and Frankie would work out their differences and be together! It was such a romantic setting, what with the snow, the northern lights and then Christmas. It was just such a great novel and I cannot praise it enough. Another part of the novel that I loved was Frankie and her mother, Freya's relationship. It was so lovely to see their relationship blooming and going from strength to strength. One of my favourite parts was when they were baking together. It just made me feel so warm inside and it was lovely to read.

Overall, I cannot recommend this novel enough. It deserves more than 5 stars and I urge you to read this. It was a perfect novel to cosy up with and Darcie Boleyn at her finest. Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel, which I have reviewed honestly.

The Paradise Cookery School
1. Sunshine & Secrets
2. Confetti & Confusion
3. Mistletoe & Mystery

-----------------------------------------------------

Oh, I've loved The Paradise Cookery School series! But this one really topped them all. I enjoyed when they were in St. Lucia but this one was 100% my favourite. I wondered how it was going to work, with a Christmas novel being set in a hot climate but seeing as they came back to the Cotswolds for this one it was perfect.

Let me quickly just say that I think the cover is stunning - perhaps the best one of the series yet! I adore the dark sky, the snowflakes surrounding the cover, the thick snow and the Christmas decorations on the house. It's inviting, cosy and so Christmassy! It's the perfect Christmas cover and completely draws you in.

The story itself, was so lovely and just a really lovely, heartwarming and in some parts humorous and emotional story. I really loved Millie's character and also Claudia's was lovely. I really felt for Claudia and Tim, they seemed like a really nice couple and their news at the end just made it feel really special. I also loved how it turned out for Millie and Zach. It was happily ever afters all round but it took quite a lot to get there!

Overall, a really happy, lovely, heart warming story. Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel, which I have reviewed honestly.

Vivien's Heavenly Ice Cream Shop by Abby Clements

Vivien's Heavenly Ice Cream Shop
Abby Clements
Rating: 4 stars

One Shop. Two Sisters. An Unforgettable Summer.

When Imogen and Anna unexpectedly inherit their grandmother Vivien's ice cream parlour, it turns both their lives upside-down. The Brighton shop is a seafront institution, but while it's big on charm it's critically low on customers. If the sisters don't turn things around quickly, their grandmother's legacy will disappear forever.

With summer looming, Imogen and Anna devise a plan to return Vivien's to it's former glory. Rather than sell up, they will train up, and make the parlour the newest destination on the South Coast foodie map. While Imogen watches the shop, her sister flies to Italy to attend a gourmet ice cream-making course. But as she works shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the best chefs in the industry, Anna finds that romance can bloom in the most unexpected of places...

---------------------------------------

I've had this book lingering in my TBR pile for some time now. First found in a charity shop, I couldn't resist the cover - nor the name! The colours are pastel and pretty and I love the detail surrounding the cover. The ice-cream sundae's, the cherries, and everything in between! This novel looks and sounds scrumptious, and I couldn't wait to get into it.

The overall story is enjoyable and easy to read. Although it's not the longest book by a mile, it's still quite a long novel but I felt like I was flying through the pages, as it was just so easy to read. The two sisters were easily relatable and at the same time totally different. I loved reading about their separate lives, and when I was about 70% through, I wondered what was going to happen as the storyline had poodled along up until this point.

When Anna travels to Italy and meets Matteo, I thought nothing of it. They didn't really interact and they carried on with their day to day lives when Anna returned to England. Only thing that we saw from time to time was when they sent each other recipes. So, it was quite a shock when he turned up at the end of the novel declaring his love for her! In regards to Jon, I kind of saw what happened with him coming. I really felt for Anna with what she was going through with Jon but was shocked when things turned out the way they did.

With regards to Imogen, I found her romance with Finn nearer the end of the book a little boring, so I actually skipped quite a few of those pages! I would say that the first part of this novel is a lot better and more put together than the second part. I found that it's just more enjoyable to read. Having said that, I did still really like this book and I'm glad I finally gave it a read! Now to read the second novel in this little series, all about Anna in Italy!

Million Love Songs by Carole Matthews

Million Love Songs
Carole Matthews
Rating: 3.5/4 stars

Ruby Brown is ready for a change.

She's single for the first time in years and she's going to dive into this brave new world with a smile on her face and a spring in her step. The last thing she's looking for is a serious relationship.

Mason represents everything Ruby wants right now: he's charming, smooth and perfect for some no-strings-attached fun. Joe on the other hand is kind and attractive, but comes with the sort of baggage Ruby wants to avoid: an annoyingly attractive ex-wife and two teenage children.

Ruby thinks she knows what she wants, but is it what she needs to be truly happy? It's about to get emotional in Million Love Songs.

-------------------------------

Going back to the author that started my love affair with Romance novels, Carole Matthews is without a doubt one of my favourite authors. She has a way of grabbing the readers attention from the very beginning and throughout the whole novel.

The cover of this particular novel of hers is quite different to the ones I've read before but I actually quite like that. It's simplistic, which I think a lot of authors are going for now, but it works well and doesn't give the story away too much. However, there are key details scattered around the cover that gives us some sort of inkling. I love the colourful little birds, the eiffel tower, the cups of tea and also the pretty flowers. The font also catches your eye.

I'm umming and ahhing as to rate this a 3.5 or 4 stars! It took me quite a while to get into this story, but when I did I just couldn't put it down. It wasn't as happy and bubbly as Carole's other novels, and for that I'm not sure if I enjoyed it as much. Don't get me wrong, it ends nicely but quite abruptly in my opinion! I found myself quite often getting a bit irritated with what Ruby did, especially when things seemed to be going quite well for her! The whole love triangle thing between Ruby, Joe and Mason was interesting but quite exhausting at the same time!

Quite surprisingly, I did really enjoy the concerts and events to do with Take That! I'm not a big fan in any sense but it was really enjoyable reading about Charlie and Nice Paul and all the events that they went to. I also enjoyed the part where Ruby went to Paris, even though what happened there was quite unexpected and I couldn't quite believe I was reading it! I'm glad with how it ended, I feel that Ruby got the right man and I'm pleased she didn't end up with who she could have been!

Overall, an interesting and enjoyable read but not my favourite of Carole Matthews novels unfortunately.

My Not So Perfect Life by Sophia Kinsella

My Not So Perfect Life
Sophie Kinsella
Rating: 4.5 stars

Katie Brenner has the perfect life: a flat in London, a glamorous job, and a super-cool Instagram feed.

OK, so the truth is that she rents a tiny room with no space for a wardrobe, has a hideous commute to a lowly admin job, and the life she shares on Instagram isn't really hers.

But one day her dreams are bound to come true, aren't they?

Until her not-so-perfect life comes crashing down when her mega-successful boss Demeter gives her the sack. All Katie's hopes are shattered. She has to move home to Somerset, where she helps her dad with his new glamping business.

Then Demeter and her family book in for a holiday, and Katie sees her chance. But should she get revenge on the woman who ruined her dreams - or try to get her job back? Does Demeter - the woman who has everything - actually have such an idyllic life herself? Maybe they have more in common than it seems.

And what's wrong with not-so-perfect, anyway?

------------------------------------------

I've only just got into Sophie Kinsella's novels in the last few months and I have no idea what took me so long! I love this author's style of writing, it's so easy to read and you just fly through the pages. There's humour throughout which keeps it interesting and I find myself actually laughing out loud at some of the parts in this book which I very rarely do! I found the panini bit on the train at the beginning absolutely hilarious! And the conversations with flatmate Alan had me in stitches every time!

The cover is pretty and simplistic, it doesn't give much away and I was drawn in by this and also the blurb. Half of this novel is set in London and the other half set in Somerset which kept me intrigued as to what was going to happen next. I would say that Sophie Kinsella's novels take about 20ish pages to get into it, because I feel that she kind of goes off on a tangent quite often and takes a bit of time to get to the actual story. However, having said that, it is still funny and easy to read so you get into the story in no time.

The story itself is about main character Katie - or if you're on the London part, Cat - and how she is trying to start a life for herself in London. All her life she has dreamt of living and working in London, but now she is, it's not all it's cracked up to be! Katie Instagram shows her eating delicious foods in Notting Hill, visiting Portobello Road market, drinking delicious hot chocolates, but in real life she eats disgusting soups and doesn't have enough space in her poky room for even a wardrobe, so has to make do with a grubby hammock above her bed to put all her stuff in. Katie likes to think she has a great job but in reality she's typing up hand written surveys and dying her boss' roots.

However, all of that comes to an abrupt end when her boss Demeter (which just kept reminding me of the Dementors from Harry Potter!) fires her. Katie then moves back home to Somerset to help her dad with his new glamping business. Katie's in her element, until Demeter arrives with her family for a holiday and she decides perhaps it's time to get some payback... I actually felt a bit sorry for Demeter closer to the end and my opinion of her completely changed nearer to the end of the book and I started to like her.

This is excellently written and keeps you hanging on to the story until the very end. In fact, I didn't want it to end! I was enjoying it so much I was sad when it was over. I definitely want to read more by Sophie Kinsella now, after loving the two other novels of hers that I've read.

----------------------------------------------

How nice it is to be back in The Cosy Cottage Cafe with everyone! This time there is drama, romance, friendship and quite simply - just happiness! This entire series has been absolutely delightful and I've enjoyed every novella - enjoying the cafe more every time I return. Rachel Griffiths has a way of completely drawing you in and this novella is no different.

Even though there is quite a few in the series, you could read them as a standalone as well as each time they focus on someone/something different. I would say though that I would recommend you reading them all in order as you get the most out of the characters and the storylines that way! The underlining theme is the friendship between the women and I must say that it was absolutely lovely to read about.

Reading these novels are a great and enjoyable way of spending a few hours and I would definitely recommend it. You'll end up feeling all happy and bubbly afterwards! They're such feel good and heartwarming novella's and I love that. Why would you not want to read a book that makes you feel all happy and warm inside?! There are funny moments, romantic ones, and in this one especially, quite emotional moments.

It was an absolute joy to read and I have enjoyed every page. Thank you to Rachel Griffiths for a copy of this novel, which I have reviewed, as always, honestly.

Dreaming of Christmas by T.A. Williams

Dreaming of Christmas
T.A. Williams
Rating: 5 stars

It's the dream Christmas: snow, mountains... and, er, an ex-boyfriend. But can Zoe still find love in the Alps?

Dumped on Christmas Eve by her long-term boyfriend, it's been a rough year for Zoe Lumsley. But then she gets an invitation she can't refuse: an all expenses paid skiing holiday with old university friends.

The bad news: her ex, Grant, will be there with his new girlfriend. But so will her former flatmate Billy, the organiser, and in the meantime he's done rather well for himself. As Christmas in the Alps approaches, it'll be great to see the old gang. Some more than others...

Perfect for readers of Tilly Tenant, Holly Martin, and Philippa Ashley, this is the perfect magical Christmas getaway from the bestselling T.A. Williams.

-------------------------------

I have loved all of T.A. Williams' novels and this one was no different. From the beginning of this novel, I just knew that I was going to love it. I read this book in a day - that's how much I enjoyed it! T.A. Williams' has such an elegant writing style that it makes you want to be exactly where he's describing. And in this particular novel, it was in the Austrian Alps, skiing with friends in the freshly dropped snow, eating delicious sounding food, and curling up in the lounge as the snow drifts past the window outside with an adorable labrador puppy at your feet!

Dreaming of Christmas follows main character Zoe, after she gets an invitation from her old school friend to go to Austria for Christmas. Zoe's not the only one to have been invited, and soon she is meeting up with people that she hasn't seen in 10 whole years - plus her ex Grant, who broke up with her last year just before Christmas. Zoe's dubious at first, but soon enjoys everyone's company - including, rather surprisingly, the company of Grant. As the days go on, Zoe's impressed with Grant's more grown up behaviour and when he comes to her and asks her an important question, she is thrown into turmoil.

About half way through, I was unsure as to how the novel was going to turn out for Zoe but the closer we got to the end, I got a bit of an inkling and everything fell into place. It's a wonderfully enchanting novel, which will help you feel extra festive - even in this heatwave - and you'll soon be wishing for the colder months! The descriptions of the Christmas trees, the sparkling snow, the fairy lights as well as the Christmas market and the food made this novel an absolute delight to read. And it is possibly one of my favourites by T.A. Williams.

Overall, this was a magical and beautiful read and I highly recommend you give it a try. Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel, which I have reviewed honestly.

Meet Me at Wisteria Cottage by Teresa F. Morgan

Meet Me at Wisteria Cottage
Teresa F. Morgan
Rating: 4 stars

A Cornish Escape

After her house is set on fire and her love life is left in tatters, Maddy Hart can't believe her luck when a friend offers her the temporary haven of Wisteria Cottage. Overlooking the turquoise blue waters of the Cornish coast, the fresh air feels like a fresh start for her and her broken heart.

Peeking out of the cosy cottage windows, Maddy's surprised to see her gorgeous but insufferable neighbour Harry Tudor has been employed to landscape the garden. But as the wisteria winding its way around the cottage begins to bloom, an unlikely friendship starts to blossom...

--------------------------------

I've had this novel on my TBR pile for over a year now and I saw it pop up on Twitter and decided that now was the right time to finally give it a read. I got it whilst it was on sale for 99p in the Kindle sale and now I've read it - I can honestly say it was a great purchase to make.

This is my first novel by Teresa F. Morgan and it definitely won't be my last. The writing style drew you in completely and throughout the novel I was hooked. I will say that even though it's quite a light-hearted novel, some of the characters in the book are definitely battling some horrible demons which I thought was put quite heavily on the story. I usually like to read heartwarming and easy, happy reads and in places I feel that this novel was quite dark.

Don't get me wrong, it talks about some serious issues in a great way but at some points I was reading it feeling quite sad! At the start of the novel, main character Maddy's house catches fire and neighbour Harry offers her a place to stay until she gets back onto her feet. The pair soon feel the chemistry between them and sparks fly. However, the pair are obviously dealing with their own issues and it makes it difficult for them to show their feelings.

I was quite surprised that their relationship started quite early on in the novel, however this didn't make it go slow or anything - quite the opposite as I enjoyed reading about their relationship and all the trials they had to get through to come out the other side. I have read few books where they start their relationship early on in the book, as normally 70% along is them not together. I quite liked this different style of writing.

I enjoyed the setting, I loved Wisteria Cottage (even though it took around 40% for Maddy to finally move in!) and overall I did enjoy this novel, however I wouldn't say it was one of my favourites but it made a nice read and I'm glad I did read it. I will definitely be looking out for more novels by this author in the future.

The Little Book Cafe: Tash's Story by Georgia Hill

The Little Book Cafe: Tash's Story
Georgia Hill
Rating: 4 stars

Escape to the seaside for a new three-part series for fans of The Canal Boat Cafe and Willow Cottage.

Local estate agent Tash isn't convinced about joining the new book club at Berecombe's beautiful new bookshop and cafe. Dragged there by her friend Emma, she knows she needs a night out. Her boyfriend Adrian is wonderful, and adores her, but has become a bit clingy of late. So when she is introduced to new local farmer Kit, with his scruffy beard and low-key look, it's a breath of fresh air to chat to someone so un-Adrian. Maybe this book club idea could be fun after all!

But when Tash starts forgetting things and behaving oddly, over-protective Adrian is determined to keep her from her new interest. But if book club has taught Tash anything, she should know not to judge a book by its cover...

------------------------------------

I've looked forward to reading this ever since I seen Georgia's twitter announcing she's releasing a new series! When this popped up on Netgalley I immediately requested and was keen to get started. I would have given this more as it's such an easy and gripping read, but I just really didn't like main character Tash.

From the beginning, I found her to be snappy, rude and I didn't like what she said about friend Amy. I understand that she was stressed about Adrian, but I found throughout the novel there was quite a lot of snapping and arguments and it was a bit draining. Making comments like 'Amy could eat the whole picnic, Tash was sure' and 'Chubby women' just kind of put me off her. I also found her to be rather materialistic, and was shocked that she only stayed with Adrian because she liked the lifestyle - even though Adrian was a controlling maniac!

Having said this, I found the short novella completely gripping and couldn't put it down! I was so invested in what would happen to Tash that I just had to continue reading it. Towards the end of the book I will say that Tash's personality got a bit better so perhaps we was just seeing how much she had to change for Adrian? She definitely gets better as the book goes on and starts becoming her old self again.

I think this is a very promising series and I can't wait to read the other two. It was a great read and I really enjoyed it, I just found that main character Tash let it down in some parts. I enjoyed the location, it was lovely to read about Berecombe and it was nice to read about some of the characters from Georgia's other novels. Thank you to the publisher for a chance to read this novel via Netgalley, which I have reviewed honestly.

The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea by Jane Linfoot

The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea
Jane Linfoot
Rating: 4 stars

Brides by the Sea, the cutest little wedding shop in all of Cornwall, has it all, including cake baker Poppy who lives upstairs. But wedding planning is not the piece of cake Poppy thought it would be, and when her best friend Cate's wedding planner walks out, Poppy has to tie up the loose ends so her bestie can tie the knot.

Will the wedding, the shop and the cake all come crashing down on her? Or will Poppy pull it off to give Cate - and herself - the happy ever afters they deserve?

This is the first full-length novel in a brand new series set in Cornwall. Look out for the next books in The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea series.

The perfect romance to take on your summer holidays! For fans of Milly Johnson, Jenny Oliver and Lucy Diamond.

------------------------------------

I really enjoyed a novel I read recently by Jane Linfoot, so I was really looking forward to getting stuck into another one of her novels. Unfortunately, I started this book when I had a very busy week so it took me so much longer than usual to finish it and to actually get into it! I was initially drawn in by the cover, I love the bright colours, the pretty cakes and the sea in the background.

I was intrigued by the blurb, and was keen to get into it and to read more about weddings and cakes! I enjoyed the overall storyline - even if you can tell from a mile off how it's going to finish and if the ending was a little bit unbelievable. I liked the main character Poppy, I really felt for her and what she had been through with her ex boyfriend. It's not nice going through what she did so this made me really relate to her character.

I feel like Jane Linfoot has a great style of writing, it's so different to the other authors I usually read but I find this totally refreshing! It's fun, it's full of humour and it's just overall really gripping and enjoyable. I got hooked from about a quarter of the way in, once Poppy started working at Daisy Hill Farm, and from there I just couldn't wait to hear about the next wedding! It was lovely to read about weddings, and to read about the couples in love!

Overall, I did enjoy this first one in The Little Wedding Shop by the Sea series. I'm not reading the next one just yet, as my TBR Netgalley pile is getting too high at the moment! But I'll definitely be returning back soon as the next one is all about Christmas!
